About Child Sponsorship
The most vulnerable people in the Dominican Republic and Haiti are the children. The educational and medical needs of these little ones are mostly unmet. Adding to the neglect, 25% of Dominican and Haitian children are malnourished. Public education is insufficient for the student population. Therefore, many children do not attend any school or drop out before the 8th grade. This is a tragedy that you can do something about.

- 50% of population over 25 yrs. have no formal education.
- Of the 50% with education, 31% of those have only a primary
- 87% elementary age kids were enrolled in school with 84% attendance rate.
- Only 61% of these kids will attend high school with a 31%attendance rate.

San Marcos is located in the coastal city of Puerto Plata on the north coast of the Dominican Republic. It it is one of the poorest areas of the city. Pastor Fredy is the principal of Colegio Fuente Esperanza (Fountain of Hope School) which is our first sponsor school.
